A CHRISTMAS TALE FOR KIDS FROM 1 TO 92
When I was a boy, before the internet dominated contemporary culture, when narratives were delivered primarily by books, Christmas-time was genuinely magic. There was always a thrill in the air at Yuletide, a sense that anything was possible, that everyone might obtain their heart’s deepest desire or a thin measure of redemption.
We reveled in tradition, struggling to untangle nests of colored bulbs, braving crowds of merry shoppers on main street or at the mall, sipping cocoa from Dad's thermos as we cruised the neighborhood viewing holiday displays and gathering before warm hearths, listening to Christmas albums and reading cherished tales aloud.
Gingerland is a gentle fantasy that hearkens to an era when people were not judged by how much they possessed, but how much they gave away. I wrote Gingerland for like-minded souls who treasure the holidays as an opportunity to celebrate the universal values that unite humans of every race, color and creed: kindness, courage, charity and a warm, generous spirit.
